Rare Antique Novelty Propelling Pencil & Toothpick Likely Sampson Mordan c.1880
FREE UK & WORLDWIDE SHIPPING ON ALL ORDERS
A rare Victorian novelty ebony and silver combined propelling pencil and toothpick, all in the form of a sword stick.
The pencil has a twist mechanism to extend and the toothpick is attached to the removable handle at the top of the ebony barrel with attached suspension loop. Once the propelling head is out, you can twist the end to increase or decrease the length of the lead.
Unmarked but very likely by Sampson Mordan, & Co, c1880.
Condition: Structurally sound. However, the toothpick inside has been broken and the pencil is missing a piece at the end. The rod extending from the nozzle that you can see in the pics must be the rod that pushes the lead out and I guess there should be a casing surrounding that, but it is missing. Therefore, this is sold as found.
A super rare piece all the same!
Measures 8cm (closed) & 9cm (open)
