An Antique Brass Alphabet Plaque, Also Known As A Hornbook. These Were Used Throughout The 18th Century And Into The Early 19th Century.
The Plaque Includes The English Uppercase Letters A–Z, Followed By An Ampersand (“&”) And What Looks Like A Ligature Of “OE” (Œ Or Œ), Which Is Used In French And Some Other European Languages.
The Reverse Of The Plaque Is Inscribed With “St. Pauls AD1729”. It Likely Came From A School Or Educational Institution.
Condition is good, commensurate with age and use.
