A Rare Pair Of Antique 19th Century Sailor Maritime Small Stags Horn Fids. The Larger of The Two Is Initialled Initialled ‘W.R’. Used By Sailors For Splicing Small Ropes. Fids Are Normally Made Of Wood Or Whale Bone And I’ve Not Come Across A Stags Horn One Before. Some Of These Were Passed Down Through Families From Generation To Generation.
Scottish Circa 1860.
Condition is good, commensurate with age and use. Structurally sound, no issues.
