A Superb Antique 19th Century Folk Art Pique Assiette Mosaic Plate c.1890.
Pique assiette is a style of mosaic that incorporates ceramic shards, broken dishes and other found objects into a design. There is a long tradition of using broken and discarded materials to create folk art.
Going by the makers mark on the back of the original plate and the crackling, this particular piece was made circa 1890.
Condition is good, commensurate age. Structurally sound. No issues.
