This Curiosity Is What I Believe To Be A Petrified Apple With Quite Some Age. It Has Retained Its Apple Shape Which Is Now Hard And Solid, And Now Has Some Weight To It. You Can See The Hole To The Top Which Goes Deep Into The Core And The Dimple To The Bottom. It Has Scarring Around It’s Surface As An Ageing Apple Would.
A Curious Piece And One Which I Have Never Seen The Like Before. There Are Some Newspaper Reports Of Such Pieces Being Discovered In Pompeii (See Last Photo) Which Look Identical To This One.
I Wonderful Item For A Cabinet Of Curiosities.
Condition is good, commensurate with age and use. Structurally sound.
