A Very Rare Untouched Rowntree’s Silver Jubilee Of King George V And Queen Mary Chocolate Bar In Original Tin From 1935.

In 1935, an 8 year old Vera Petchell was presented with some chocolate at school to commemorate the Silver Jubilee of King George V and Queen Mary. The gift was arranged by the then Lord Mayor of Leeds William Hemingway.

Vera’s father told her not to eat the chocolate because it might be worth something one day. And, as such, Vera never touched it and instead, treasured the souvenir for a lifetime.  Vera passed at the age of 95, at which time this chocolate bar, untouched and within its original tin, was discovered hidden under her bed.

The chunky chocolate pieces have Rowntree's name on each piece, with Rowntrees being an important manufacturer in Britain's chocolate heritage.

Vera is said to have been a great character and enjoyed a good life. And, Vera’s memory continues with this special tin of chocolate. So, here’s to you Vera Petchell, and thank you for preserving your chocolate for future generations to see.

This is a true one-off and will appeal to collectors of both chocolate and royal memorabilia.

Condition is good, commensurate with age. Chocolate bar is complete. Some wear to outer tin.

Measures 16cm x 6cm (chocolate bar).

Weighs 230 grams
