An Early Scottish Deer Antler Club.

This deer antler club, linked to Scottish Highland and potentially Jacobite traditions, was primarily a weapon, crafted from sturdy red deer antler—a symbol of strength in the region. Its natural shape, with a thicker end for striking, indicates its practical use.

While less common than swords or firearms in the 18th century, antler clubs served as effective weapons in close combat, particularly among rural or impoverished groups as improvised weapons.

The smooth patina suggests frequent handling over a significant period of time.

Condition is good, commensurate with age and use. Structurally sound. The antler has been handled a lot which has created a smooth feel to the surface, something which could only happen through the passage of many, many years.

Measures 50cm x 6cm x 4.5cm

Weighs 950 grams
