Manuscript. Riddle Book In Original Orange Paper Wraps. Pp 32 Of Which 29 In Ink Written In A Tidy Hand. A Tiny Notebook, Approximately 9cm x 6cm With Riddles And Answers On Each Page.

Typical Victorian Humour: “Why Is A Turnpike Gate Like A Dead Puppy Dog’s Tail? Because It Stops A Waggin’”.

“Why Are You Like A Hinge? Because You Are Something To A Door (Adore)”.

“Why Does A Sculptor Die The Most Horrible Of Deaths? Because He Makes Faces And Busts”.

With Ownership [Authorship?] Inscription To Front Pastedown “J.A. Soames Sept 27. 1869”.

Condition is good, commensurate with age and use. Structurally sound. Some damage to first few leaves, staining and toning throughout.
