A Very Handsome Antique 19th Century Billiard Table Pocket Lion Which Has Been Mounted Magnificently On A Polished Black Marble Base (Later Mounting). This Screams Quality.
During The 1800s, High End Billiard Tables Often Had Carved Or Cast Lion Heads Mounted At Each Pocket. The Ball Drop Is Literally The Lion’s Open Mouth. Very Dramatic And Very Victorian. The Lion Symbolised Power, Wealth, And Prestige. These Were Never On Cheap Tables, This Was Elite Billiards Furniture.
This Comes With The Black Billiard Ball Which Displays Wonderfully. You’ll See That I Have Displayed A Candle In The Mouth In Some Pictures. To Do This I Have Used A Small Stick To Hold The Weight At The Back In Place. Ideally, You’ll Need A Weighted Candle To Keep The Mouth Open Instead Of A Stick.
Condition is good, commensurate with age and use. Structurally sound and functions well.
