A Very Sweet Antique Georgian Miniature Glass Ketchup Bottle Engraved With The Word ‘Ketchup’.

Georgian Ketchup was nothing like the modern tomato ketchup we know today. Instead, it was a savoury, fermented sauce, closer to soy sauce or Worcestershire sauce. Mushroom ketchup was especially prized because it delivered a deep savoury flavour and was added to gravies and ragouts, mixed into soups and sauces, or used as a flavour enhancer in meat dishes.

Condition is good, commensurate with age and use. Structurally sound with no obvious chips or cracks. Some clouding to the inner glass. No stopper.
