Nostell Priory is a grand Palladian country house near Wakefield, in West Yorkshire. It sits within a large estate/parklike grounds, about 121 hectares of park and pleasure grounds.
The site was originally a medieval Augustinian priory, founded in the early 12th century, dedicated to St Oswald. It operated until the Dissolution of the Monasteries under Henry VIII (c.1540), when it was surrendered.
In 1953 the house was gifted to the National Trust. Management has been under the Trust since then.
Condition is good, commensurate with age and use. Structurally sound. Some chips to edged.
