A Fabulous Rare Antique 19th Century Table Snuff Box Made From The Stern Of The Victoria & Albert Paddle Steamer. There Is A Period Label To The Inside Of The Lid That Tells Of The Boat’s History.
The Victoria & Albert Paddle Steamer Was A Twin Paddle Steamer Launched 26th April 1843. She Was Laid Down In 1842 At Pembroke Dock By William Symonds. She Was Lengthened In 1853 And Renamed The Osborne. She Was Scrapped In 1858.
The 1853 Lengthening Meant Removal Of The Stern Post Which Is What This Box Was Made From.
A Super Collector’s Piece!
Condition is good, commensurate with age and use. Structurally sound and functions well. However, there are some losses to the internal rim. Please see photos.
