A Rare Early Iron Age Bronze Celtic Ritual Sickle, c.800-600 BC. Found In France.
Used In Celtic Rituals Of Gathering The Mistletoe Found Growing On Oak Trees. The Ritual Was Performed By Druids And Took Place On The Sixth Night After A Full Moon. The Sickle Blade Was Then Buried As An Offering To The Gods.
The Roman Author Pliny The Elder Described This Ritual.
This Is A Complete Example Which Was Found In France.
