A Rare Pair Of Antique Early 18th Century Folk Art Carved Hunting Cups.
These Hunting Cups Have Been Carved From Ox Bone In A Scrimshaw Style With Allegorical Classical Figures, One Cup Shows The Myth Of Narcissus And The Green Man, Symbolising Rebirth And Regeneration. The Winged Figure I have Not Been Able Accurately Trace. Both Cups Have Original Hook Rings To Attach To A Hunter’s Belt. One Cup Has A Replacement Base, But A Good One. These Are Wonderful Pieces Of Museum Quality!
Condition is good, commensurate with age and use. Structurally sound. As mentioned, one cup has a replacement base, a good repair. Please see photos.
