Rare Antique 19th Century CDV Of Two American Civil War Veterans Both Having Had Their Arms Amputated And Both Men Identified.
They Are Believed To Be Private Edwin S. Kellogg Of The 89th NY Infantry Holding The Flag, And Corporal George W. Brown Of The 157th Penn. Infantry, Holding The Rifle.
Both Men Each Lost An Arm After Being Wounded At Petersburg, Va. Many Veteran That Had Been Left Maimed After The War, Made Photos Like This To Sell To Raise Money For Themselves. What Little Work Was Available To Them, And A Meagre Pension Was Not Much To Live On.
The Period Handwritten Price To The Bottom Shows That This Is 100% Original.
Condition is good, commensurate with age. Structurally sound. Image is still strong. Some age related scuffs and discolouration. Please see all images.
