A Charming Antique 18th Century Love Token Bilston Enamel Patch Box. The Lid Has A Hand And A Heart To The Centre With The Wording “My Heart And My Hand Are At Thy Command”. It Still Retains It’s Internal Mirror Too! An Utterly Charming Piece.
These boxes were essentially receptacles for beauty patches, especially in the 18th century. During the days of Louis XV, black patches of gummed taffeta were popular with fashionable women and men who wanted to emphasise the beauty of their skin.
Condition is decent, there is some cracks to the top of the lid, but other than this, it’s very good and still retains its mirror inside which is undamaged.
