A Superb Example Of An Antique 19th Century Tin Glazed Barber’s Bowl, With This One Having Period Stapled Repairs In The Make Do Manner.

The crescent-shaped notch in the rim, designed to fit snugly against a person’s neck or under the chin, allowed barbers to collect shaving lather. However, barbers didn’t only cut hair back then but also performed surgeries and bloodletting. The bowl’s notch also made it easier to use during those procedures.

These bowls are highly collectible, especially with signs of genuine use and antique repairs. The presence of staple repairs enhances its value, with repaired make-do pieces becoming a sought after collector’s field in their own right.

Condition is good, commensurate with age and use. Staples repairs as shown and some small age related nicks here and there.
