A mid-19th century oil on board naive folk art portrait, depicting a young Queen Victoria around the time of her 1838 coronation. Painted in a naive provincial style, the work features the monarch in full regalia - crown, sceptre, and ceremonial robe - set against a dark draped backdrop with additional royal symbols.

Likely created by an admirer rather than a court artist, it is naive in style but reflects patriotic sentiment and decorative tradition of the Victorian era.

The painting is housed in a period ornate wood and gilt frame.

A rare survivor!

Condition is fair to good, with age-related surface wear, minor paint loss, small losses to frame and a small crack to the top centre of the wooden board, yet it retains strong historical and decorative appeal. It would benefit from a reframe as the current frame is ever so slightly too large for the painting, with a slight gap down one side.

Measures 26cm x 19cm (painting) OR 34cm x 29cm (frame)

Weighs 700 grams
