An original early 20th-century suffragette propaganda postcard, featuring Christabel Pankhurst, one of the leading figures in the British women’s suffrage movement. Produced by the Women’s Social and Political Union (WSPU) — the most militant suffragette organization — it displays Christabel’s formal portrait under the bold slogan “Votes for Women”. It also lists the WSPU headquarters address, 4 Clement’s Inn, Strand, London, confirming its official origin.

These postcards were created between 1906 and 1912 as part of a broader effort to raise public awareness, promote the movement, and fundraise for the suffragettes’ campaigns.

They were sold at rallies, suffrage shops, and public events to supporters who used them for correspondence or simply kept them as political souvenirs.

Christabel Pankhurst (1880–1958) was a key leader of the British women’s suffrage movement.

A co-founder of the Women’s Social and Political Union (WSPU) alongside her mother, Emmeline Pankhurst, Christabel was known for her strategic brilliance and militant tactics.

She led campaigns of protest, civil disobedience, and direct action to demand voting rights for women. Christabel was arrested multiple times and became a symbol of defiance and determination.

She played a crucial role in shifting the suffrage movement from peaceful petitioning to bold, attention-grabbing action under the famous slogan “Deeds, not words.”
