A very rare 19th-century cast iron Rod of Asclepius apothecary trade sign.
This well-cast wall-mounted sign represents the Rod of Asclepius, a symbol of healing and medicine rooted in Greek mythology. Used since the 5th century, it signified early medical practices like apothecaries and remains a universal emblem of medicine today.
Likely from a 19th-century French apothecary, the sign features traces of original black paint and a time-worn patina.
With three fixing holes and no damage or repairs, it is a rare and desirable collector’s piece.
