An Antique Victorian Ceramic Birthing Egg. These Ceramic Eggs Were Given By Midwives To Mothers In Labour To Grip And Squeeze Whilst Giving Birth. They Were Also Seen As A Goodluck Charm For A Successful Birth.

Midwives Would Use The Eggs Again And Again, Which Is Why So Few Have Survived.

The Front Shows A Baby Face Coming From The Egg And To The Rear, A Baby’s Bottom And Foot.

Condition is good, commensurate with age and use. Structurally sound.
