A Rare Antique Victorian Papier Mache Grotesque Folk Art Figural Jar With Marble Eyes. Will Have Likely Held Tobacco Or Snuff. Wonderfully Made From Papier Mache And Decorated To Make It Look Like The Face Has Been Carved From A Tree. It Has Period Marble Eyes Which Make For A Very Very Creepy Sinister Look Indeed! The Hat Is The Lid Which Can Be Removed To Reveal The Inside Of The Jar. A Remarkable Piece And One-Of-A-Kind!
Condition is good, commensurate with age and use. Structurally sound and functions well. Some age related wear, to be expected, to areas of the papier mache.
