A Rare Victorian Mourning Welsh Slate Funerary Memorial Obelisk With Names & Dates. This Is Probably The Saddest Antique I Have Ever Found Because Of The Young Ages At Which These Poor Souls Passed. Their Memory Now Preserved On This Obelisk. Could They Have Been Victims Of A Cholera Pandemic…?
This Appears To Be A Rather Rare Item, Certainly I’ve Never Seen Another. A Wonderful Piece Of Welsh Social History.
Condition is good, commensurate with age and use. Some chips to the slate to be expected. Overall good for its age.
