Antique Road Trip - My Visit To Hungerford

Hello and welcome, we're back with your favourite Monday read!  That's right, 'Blog Post Monday'!

Some of you will know that I took a trip south last week for a friend's wedding and to visit my family who I've not seen for almost two years!  I based myself in Hampshire, visited Wiltshire and dragged my family across to Berkshire so that I could have have a look around the massive selection of antique shops in Hungerford.

With family in toe, I couldn't spend too much time looking, so it was a very rapid run around.  But I was very impressed with what I saw and what I found, and this week's post is all about that.

So, as always, get that kettle on and strap yourselves in for my antiques road trip to Hungerford!

The History Of Bejewelled Dental Prostheses - Antique Curiosities

Welcome once again to another instalment of 'Blog Post Monday'!

I went on a lovely little buying trip this week and found some rather fascinating little pieces, which, all bar one, have been sold to 'Source Social' members before even hitting our website! Unbelievable! The one piece that is yet to sell, however, is the piece that I have decided to dedicate this week's blog post to.

I do love a curio, always have done, always will do, and this piece is up there as one of my strangest purchases.  The long and the short of it is, I saw a set of silver teeth sparkly in a cabinet at an antiques shop and they came home with me!  Even the sales assistants looked at me like I was odd!

So, as always, get that kettle on, take a seat in the waiting room and let's examine my silver find and have a look at the history of bejewelled dental prostheses...

The Suffragette Movement & The Memorabilia That Lives On

Hello and welcome once again to another "Blog Post Monday".

This week I found a lovely piece of antique memorabilia.  Memorabilia from a fight that was taken up by a group of people during the early 20th century, for the right to a basic, well, human right...!  I'm talking about the Suffragette movement.

The piece I found is a beautiful rolled gold watch with a powerful message to the face.  A stark reminder of the struggles women endured at the time and continue to endure today.  And, in light of me finding this memorable piece of memorabilia, I thought I'd dedicate this week's blog post to it and the brave women of the Suffragette movement.

So, as always, get that kettle on, pull your mums, grandmothers, sisters, girlfriends, wives, daughters, nieces, aunties, cousins and friends in close to you, tell them how bloody amazing they are, and let's remember the Suffragettes and how relevant they still are today.

Antique Novelty Silver - How It Started & Why It's Still So Popular Today

'Ello, 'ello, 'ello, welcome to this week's instalment of 'Blog Post Monday'.

Now, my love for antiques became an obsession when I started finding quirky, novelty pieces and curios.  In particular, I became fascinated with novelty silver pieces.  The workmanship and the fun, comical element that a lot of these unusual pieces had, well, who wouldn't fall in love with them...?!

With this in mind, I've decided to dedicate this week's post to these fun pieces.  We'll be looking at how these novelties came about, how their popularity continues to grow and I'll be showing you some of the unusual pieces I've been lucky to find during my time as a dealer and collector.

So, as always, get that kettle on, get your little bits out and I'll show you mine, if you show me yours...
