Talking Antiques With Hoof Brocante & The Bidding Room's Adi Higham

Hello one and all!  It's Monday again and you know what that means!

If you've been following my blog, you'll know by now that I've been catching up with industry legends to find out how they got into the trade, about their favourite finds and their biggest regrets, and to get some advice for myself and for anyone else thinking of getting into the trade.  These short interviews will continue to come out over the course of the next few months, depending on who I can persuade to take part.

This week I had the pleasure of chatting to Hoof Brocante's very own Adi Higham, whom some of you will also recognise from new BBC1 antiques show, 'The Bidding Room'.

Now, here's a fun fact for you.  I actually appeared on the first series of 'The Bidding Room' and Adi bought my item! If you're interested, you can read more about my TV appearance here.  Enough of these shameless plugs...! Let's get down to business!  Get that kettle on and let's find out about what tickles Adi's fancy in the world of antiques...

What Is Your Preference When Shopping For Antiques - An Organised Setup Or A Chaotic Mess?

What Is Your Preference When Shopping For Antiques - An Organised Setup Or A Chaotic Mess?

Monday has come around again and that means it's time for another Source Vintage blog post...!

So, this week, I put a question out on social media, asking, "When searching for antiques, what do you prefer? An organised easy to see setup or the thrill of digging through absolute chaos?" And the response really surprised me.

Personally, it really depends on my mood. Some days I like to take a calm, casual, approach. So an organised easy to see layout is nice. But other days I like to get stuck in and get my hands dirty! Reap the rewards of digging deep and finding something that nobody else has seen!

I was so surprised by my findings that I have dedicated this week's blog post to it. So, as always, get that kettle on and let's find out how you lot like to shop for your antiques...!

World War 2 Memorabilia Children's Air Raid Identity Bracelets - Another Find I Had To Share

Hello again and happy Monday to you all! It's been another busy week here at Source Vintage HQ and I have found yet another exciting item which I just had to share with you. It's both exciting and rather emotional actually, and this is why I love my job. Antiques are pieces of history and each item holds its own story. Who's owned the item? What has it seen...? They really do bring history to life.

This week it was two pieces of World War 2 Memorabilia that I found.  Two children's Air Raid Identity Bracelets. I've never seen one, let alone two, and I'm on a mission to reunite them with their respective families. This is where I need your help!

So, you know what to do by now. Kettle on, proper brew, feet up and let me tell you about another very special find...
