A Brief History Of The Zeppelin Airship & Its Sought After Memorabilia

Welcome to another instalment of 'Blog Post Monday'.

This week I purchased another rather fascinating piece.  I have in fact owned a few connected pieces over the years and it's a subject matter that I always tend to keep an eye out for, don't ask me why...  But, as I do with most of my fascinating finds, I had to write about it.  This week's post is about Zeppelin memorabilia and the collectability of pieces connected to these fascinating air ships and the terror they brought to World War 1.

So, as always, get that kettle on and strap yourselves in as we go up up and away to explore the history of Zeppelins and the reasons why its memorabilia is just so collectable...

Antiques Rail Trip To Scarborough - The Good, The Very Good & The Ugly

Welcome to another instalment of your favourite weekly read.

This week I ventured out again in search of treasures and decided to test the water in the scenic seaside town of Scarborough in North Yorkshire.  I'd been to Scarborough a few times before, but never to look for antiques and I wasn't sure what, if anything, I'd find.  This week's post is dedicated to my trip to Scarbados (as known by the locals).

So, as always, get that kettle, get those beach towels out and join me as I experience the good, the very good and the ugly side of the antiques trade in Scarborough...

A Brief History Of Antique Eye Prosthesis - The Weird World Of Antiques & Collectibles

Welcome to another 'Blog Post Monday'!

This week I'm going to be talking about one of my more gruesome recent finds.  As a dealer, I've owned a set of silver teeth, what I thought was a prosthetic sterling silver finger tip and now... a prosthetic glass eye...!  Yes, an eye...  Excuse the pun, but I have had an eye on finding an antique glass eye for some time now, don't ask me why...

Anyway, the long and the short of it is that I found one in an antiques centre in Sheffield recently and with a fascination for the weird, the wonderful and the grotesque, I thought I'd dedicate this week's blog post to this little glass eye.

So, as always, get that kettle on, maybe put lunch on hold for a while and join me as we delve into the fascinating world of antique eye prosthesis...

When Shipping Goes Wrong In The Antiques Trade - Royal Mail & Other Claims

Welcome to another instalment of 'Blog Post Monday'.

Over the course of the past six months I've been having some mixed fortunes with the parcels I'm sending through Royal Mail.  Some have been destroyed, some have been delayed significantly and some have simply gone missing altogether, but the issues don't end there!  Quite frankly, I think there's something smelly at the core of some of these postal services, something designed to stitch up small businesses, particularly in the antiques trade, and conversely, designed to protect big business at all costs.

This week, I thought I'd share a few of the issues I've experienced and reach out to you lovely lot for some advice on how you go about your shipping and find out if, like me, you've experienced similar issues, not just with Royal Mail, but with other postal services too.

So, as always, get that kettle on and get your stamps out as we talk all things shipping and discuss what happens when it all goes horribly wrong...
