Buying & Selling Antiques - Exciting Finds & Regretful Sales
Discussion Favourite Finds News

It's 'Blog Post Monday' once again! Where does time go...!?
Having found some rather exciting pieces of late, it got me thinking about my most treasured finds throughout my antiques career and the absolute regret I've felt when I've sold them. There have been some pieces which were just so unusual, rare or damn right fascinating, that to this day, I'm still haunted by the regret of letting them go.
I suppose the burning question is, as a dealer, does everything have a price and do you feel obliged to sell? I've heard some dealers say that a piece is only exciting until the next one comes along. I've also heard some say that you are only a proper dealer if you are willing to sell a piece, regardless of any emotional attachment.... This week's post is about where I stand on the subject and I'll be having a look back at some of my most regretful sales.
So, as always, get that kettle on, make yourselves comfortable and let me spill my heart out to you as I reminisce about my biggest regrets...

Discussion Shop & Fair Reviews

Happy 'Blog Post Monday' to you all!
How has your first post-lockdown antiques forage gone this week? Mine has been great and very, very interesting. And I say "Interesting", because I have noticed something on my travels, something very positive!
Now, those of you who have followed me from the very beginning, will remember that I wrote a blog post back in July 2020, highlighting the impact that I thought the pandemic would have on the antiques and collectibles trade. In that post I also predicted an increase in the popularity of antiques and vintage items, and went as far as to say that an antiques "Boom" was on the horizon! Well, on my travels this week, I noticed some signs that my prediction may just be starting to happen.
So, as always, get that kettle on, sit back and let me fill you in on what I've seen, and what I think this might mean for the antiques trade.

Talking Antiques With 'The Bidding Room's' Adi Higham - 'Part Deux'

Welcome to another instalment of 'Blog Post Monday'!
If you follow my weekly blog you'll know that I've been interviewing some industry legends over the course of the past 12 months. You'll also know that 'Hoof Brocante' and 'The Bidding Room's', Adi Higham, was one of my early interviews.
Well, this week, just for a change and to try something a bit different, I decided to interview that same Adi Higham...again...! "Why?" you might ask... Well, there are many reasons, really. Firstly, as legends go, Adi is up there with some of the finest. Secondly, my first interview with him has proved to be quite a popular one. And, lastly, when I interviewed him back in November, I caught him at quite a busy time. He'd been filming for 'The Bidding Room', as well as travelling back and forth from France on buying trips, so he didn't have a great deal of time. But this time, my timings were perfect and Adi was on top form!
So, as always, get that kettle on, get those feet up and settle in for Adi Higham, 'Part Deux'...
